ICM News seeks to publicize positive and innovative real-world changes through martial arts, raise public awareness of martial arts activity, and motivate readers to make life changes through martial arts practice. Publication of ICM News UNESCO ICM Martial Arts Demonstration Team, first launched in 2019 and consisting of members practicing martial arts inscribed on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List, aimed to raise martial arts awareness to the public, and instill a culture of peace and harmony. The nine-member team in 2022 displayed seven martial arts: taekkyeon, taekwondo, wushu, pencak silat, capoeira, bokator, and sambo. Most of the performances formerly held online due to COVID-19 were done in person, allowing youth and the public the opportunity to take part in martial arts. The team?s appearance at the International Martial Arts & Malay Silat Festival in Malaysia in September 2022 resulted in martial arts engagement and exchange with a global audience and networking with martial arts organizations.
