❍ (Participating member states) Zimbabwe, Namibia, Botswana, Angola, Zambia, Mozambique, Malawi, South Africa, Lesotho, Madagascar, Mauritius, Seychelles and Swaziland

❍ (Organizer) Zimbabwe National Commission for UNESCO (tentative)

❍ (Theme) Development and engagement of African youth and women through martial arts

❍ (Description)

  - Congress for martial arts organizations, academia and groups in Africa

  - Sharing of policies and issues on youth and women in different African member states

  - Exchanges between experts to increase involvement of African youth and women in martial arts

  - African regions taking turns to host the congress (in order of East, West and Southern Africa), designation of focal points by region

❍ (Timeline)

- Jan. - Feb. 2020 Kick-off meetings and preparatory visits to host country, MOU signed

with local stakeholders

- Mar. - Apr. 2020 Organizing committee launched and master plan developed

- May - Jun. 2020 Detailed plans laid out, participants selected and meeting agenda finalized 

- Jul. - Aug. 2020 Participants confirmed, final preparations

- Sep. 2020 3rd African Regional Martial Arts Congress

- Oct. 2020 Meeting results compiled and published in Korean and English

❍ A network of experts established and maintained to help facilitate future projects by forging a regional martial arts network in Southern Africa

❍ Information to coordinate projects tailored to Southern Africa and a martial arts database for the region

❍ Ways to increase African youth and women’s involvement in martial arts

❍ Spread of non-violence and prevention of school violence in Africa through martial arts
