1. Rationale 2022 5th African Martial Arts Congress,
being organized by the UNESCO International Centre of Martial Arts (ICM) in
collaboration with the UNESCO Member States in Africa and its National Commissions
for UNESCO, and various martial arts, sports, youth and educational
organizations is purposed to provide in-person discussion platform to dialogue
on current issues for shaping strategic partnerships between ICM and AFRICA and
to strengthen martial arts network in Africa. 2022 5th African Martial Arts Congress,
which is on the theme: ‘Solidarity in Action: Beyond Martial Arts
Partnerships’, will be held in Chungju, Korea this time, After a
successful hosting of the 1st and 2nd African Regional
Martial Arts Congress in Kenya in 2018, and Ghana in 2019, respectively,
followed by the 3rd and 4th online conference due to the continuous
state of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and 2021. Throughout the legacy of
previous African conferences, ICM has identified ICM-AFRICA partnership
strategies by reviewing various agendas, opinions, discussions and its
comprehensive study on the ICM-AFRICA Martial Arts Action Plan for future
collaboration. With this, the direction and specific goals of ICM have been
established with the keywords of Africa, martial arts and youth and women in
Africa to be shared and discussed together during the Congress. Therefore, we,
ICM are organizing the 2022 5th African Martial Arts Congress,
scheduled to take place on 25 – 28 October 2022 in Chungju, Republic of
Korea. The Congress is expected to convene more than 50 related experts from the UNESCO
Member States in Africa, UNESCO Regional Offices, National Commissions,
