The 3rd Martial Arts Research Initiative for Experts (MARIE) will be held for 32 days, from July 2nd until August 2nd 2019. Six participants, each from different countries (Brazil, China, Germany, Ghana, Jordan, and Ukraine) have been selected based on their study plan, personal statement, letter of recommendation, English interview, etc.

The purpose of MARIE is to encourage martial arts experts and researchers to create martial arts classes that reflect the situation of their country and develop plans for implementation, by enhancing research capacity and providing a platform for participants to share exemplary cases of martial arts education.
During their stay in Korea, the participants will take part in courseworks about research methodology, and UNESCO policies, and engage in martial arts related cultural and field activities. When the program ends, the participants are expected to submit reports about the role of martial arts in resolving social problems about youth and women, policies to promote martial arts, development of new martial arts programmes, and so on.

Call for Applications are notified through ICM’s official website and ICM’s SNS channels during the first half of the year. Click to see the final report of the 2nd MARIE that was held in 2018.
