ICM is hosting the 2019 International Martial Arts Academic Seminar on the 30th of October, at the ‘Hotel The Base(Crystal Ballroom) in Chungju. The theme of the seminar is “Advancing Sustainable Development Goals through Martial Arts.Consisted of three sessions, the seminar will initiate discussion on Martial Arts for Youth, Women Empowerment through Martial Arts, and Ways to Promote Martial Arts Education and Good Practices. Everyone is welcome to participate by registering online.


 

 

ICM is hosting the 2019 International Martial Arts Academic Seminar on the 30th of October, at the ‘Hotel The Base(Crystal Ballroom) in Chungju. The theme of the seminar is “Advancing Sustainable Development Goals through Martial Arts.


Consisted of three sessions, the seminar will initiate discussion on Martial Arts for Youth, Women Empowerment through Martial Arts, and Ways to Promote Martial Arts Education and Good Practices. To provide a platform for various stakeholders to exchange knowledge on how to achieve SDGs through martial arts, ICM has invited presenters from diverse backgrounds, including those affiliated with martial arts organisations, martial arts practitioners, as well as civil society organisations, and academia.

 

 

Susan Vize (Regional Advisor for Social and Human Sciences at UNESCO Bangkok), Colin Higgs (Professor Emeritus at Newfoundland Memorial University), Jungheon Kim (Professor at Yongin University), John Frankl (Professor at Yonsei University), Christopher Matthews (Senior Lecturer at Nottingham Trent University), Lina Khalifeh (Founder of SheFighter), Joungkun Shin (Operation Manager at Chungju Taekkyeon Demonstration Team) will be present to participate in the sessions. The 2019 UNESCO ICM Martial Arts Demonstration Team has also prepared a congratulatory performance for the seminar.     


 

The seminar, third of its kind, is expected to vitalise research and academic activities on martial arts, and emphasize the importance of implementing SDGs in the field of martial arts. Everyone is welcome to participate by registering online. Detailed Schedule for the seminar is available here.
