2021 4th African Martial Arts Conference has been hosted on 1-2 December in an online webinar format, with the purpose of contributing to the development of African youth and women through martial arts.

The conference has previously been held in Kenya during 2018, Ghana during 2019, and through an online webinar last year. This year’s conference focused on discussing the development of youth, women, and martial arts in the sub-Saharan region, a priority area recognized by UNESCO.

Martial arts education specialists, women martial arts athletes, Africa and youth·women·martial arts experts from 11 countries (Kenya, Rwanda, Zimbabwe, Mauritius, Sierra Leone, Ghana, Tanzania, etc.) took part in the conference.

ICM’s Secretary General Park Chang Hyun mentioned “The 4th African Martial Arts Conference is an effort to overcome boundaries of time and space during the COVID-19 pandemic. The diverse agendas and opinions will allow ICM to find a specific purpose and direction to move forward with Africa. A strategic collaboration with various of related organizations will benefit a partnership based in Africa.”
