CALL FOR APPLICATIONS

 

International Centre of Martial Arts for Youth Development and Engagement under the auspices of UNESCO (ICM) is a UNESCO Category 2 Centre which is established through a signed agreement between the Government of the Republic of Korea and UNESCO.

 

The 2026 ICM MODEL UNESCO CONFERENCE (2026 ICM MUNESCO) which will be held from the 7th to the 10th of July aims to explore solutions for peace through martial arts and sport, driven by the creative ideas of youth. ICM looks forward to having active participation of those who are highly interested in the activities of the UNESCO and social transforming impact of sport.

2026 ICM MUNESCO OVERVIEW

Topic & model: to be decided and selected after consultation among

the secretariat, ICM and UNESCO

Dates: 7 July - 10 July 2026

Main location: ICM Headquarters, Chungju-si, Chungcheongbuk-do, Republic of Korea

Participants: 50 - 60 graduate and undergraduate students (excluding the members of secretariat)

Language: English

SECRETARIAT APPLICATION GUIDELINE

Number of selectees: maximum 10 (details are subject to change based on the applicant pool)

Eligibility

Undergraduate and graduate students (including exchange students, students enrolled in language school/institute, and those taking a leave of absence) or youth aged between 19 and 34

Ones residing in the Republic of Korea or willing to travel to Korea at their own expenses

Open to all nationalities

English & Korean skills are essential

Function(s)

Pre-conference

Overall conference planning (including determination of theme and format) and management, promotion and recruitment of delegations, preparation of preconference training and orientation, and participation in workshops.

During the conference

Planning and managing teambuilding and experiential activities during the first half of the conference, and serving as members of the presidium and onsite staff in the latter half.

In addition to the above responsibilities, secretariat members will collaborate with the organiser on overall conference preparations once selected

Benefits: Free participation (including meals and accommodations) and KRW 100,000 daily allowance during the conference (total KRW 400,000 from 7 to 10 July 2026), souvenir package, participation certificate, eligibility to apply for internship organised by ICM

Required documents: will be requested individually if necessary

Participant requirements

Must have advanced English skills with essential Korean skills

Must be committed to the 2026 MUNESCO and attend the whole programme (including preparatory team activities, orientation session, and the conference)

Capable enough to attract the delegates and lead them for their team activities

Preferred candidate(s)

Those who have experience in similar events

Those who have deeper understanding on UNESCO and its Fit for Life initiative, sport for development and peace, physical education, sport policy, and SDGs

Those who are academically excellent and have advanced English writing skills

Those who could add more sense of diversity to the programme
