Title ICM and Incheon National University Sign MOU to Support Inclusive Martial Arts Training and Promote
The International Centre of Martial Arts for Youth Development and Engagement under the auspices of UNESCO (ICM) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the HUSS Inclusive Society Project Group of Incheon National University on April 9, 2026, at the ICM headquarters in Chungju, Korea. The agreement aims to establish a formal cooperation framework for the stable implementation of the "Supporting People with Disability in Martial Arts Training" project and the promotion of inclusive society values. The partnership is particularly significant in that it connects disability rehabilitation and education with international cooperation through martial arts, aligning with UN Sustainable Development Goals 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and 4 (Quality Education). Under the MOU, the two organizations will collaborate in areas including the operation of inclusive martial arts programs and international cooperation projects, supporting the participation of university student assistant instructors with global competencies, developing martial arts-based educational content, jointly implementing field-based disability martial arts training programs both domestically and internationally, and sharing knowledge through seminars and academic events. The project, jointly promoted by ICM and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC) since 2025, will select one disability rehabilitation institution in Bangladesh, India, or Vietnam for a 5-day wheelchair Tai Chi training program in 2026. Students from the HUSS Inclusive Society Project Group will participate as assistant instructors at the overseas site.
