2020 3rd African Martial Arts Webinar was hosted on 24 and 25 November organized by ICM, online. Under the main theme of ‘Martial Arts for African Youth and Women’, this virtual conference was proceeded with four sessions to discuss current issues and concerns faced by African Youth and Women, increasing recognition of the positive role of martial arts and the changing paradigm of martial arts education in the post COVID-19 period and martial arts as a SDG tool and the future of African Youth and Women.


This year, youth and women experts from 10 African countries such as Ghana, Sierra Leone, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Uganda, South Africa, Mauritius, Tanzania, Sudan and Gambia and domestic experts from Korea actively participated to discuss African martial arts issues and various youth and women topics. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this new experience of hosting webinar will be an alternative of communicating with African countries as in a new dimension of cooperation. This online seminar has been a very meaningful event to share the various thoughts and insights from experts in Africa.


Entire sessions of the webinar were broadcasted in real time online and anyone interested in Africa or martial arts participated worldwide. The number of view count has been more than 3,000 times in total and achieved more than 100 real-time viewers on the same time through ICM's YouTube and Facebook Live during the event. ICM successfully hosted the 1st and 2nd African Regional Martial Arts Congress in Kenya in 2018, and Ghana in 2019 respectively and continued to cooperate with UNESCO member states in Africa this year too.
